Another rye cocktail, the Blinker was another interesting one. It called for raspberry syrup, so I made some of that first – brought raspberries and some water to a boil, added sugar, reduced to simmer, added more water, reduced, chilled, and finished with some grain alcohol to preserve. It tastes pretty good.
The finished product is a bit off-dry and tastes like sweet grapefruit juice with … rye. I guess this is just another one that doesn’t work for me, but I couldn’t find anything redeeming about it. Beyond that it provided an excuse to finish the bottle of rye that I liked the least.
